Engr. Felicia Nnena Agubata - MNSE, M.Eng

Engr. Mrs. Felicia Nnenna Agubata, MNSE was born into the family of Late (Mr.)  Alfred and Mrs.  Beatrice Nwonye Akametalu of Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra state, South East Nigeria. After her secondary school education in 1988, she proceeded to the renowned Enugu State University of Science and Technology  where she bagged a         B. Eng. in Computer Science & Engineering with Second Class Upper Division in 1997. She also obtained a Masters in Communication Engineering (M.ENG) degree in 2014 from the same school. Presently, she is pursuing a doctorate degree in the same field.

 

On completion of the mandatory National Youth Service Corps assignment at Innovative Systems Limited in 1999, she started work as a Sales Engineer at Compluleb Nigeria Limited in 2001.

 

Her career in the Aviation sector commenced in 2002 ,when she joined the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (an Air Navigation Service Provider(ANSP) responsible for managing the Nigerian Airspace through the Provision, Installation and Maintenance of Navigational Aids, Communication Equipment and Surveillance Systems), as an Electrical Engineer II and has served in various capacities including  Special Project Officer(SPO) for the rehabilitation of thirteen(13)  Control Towers in Nigeria , Coordinator Project Management Office (CPMO) charged with the  responsibility of managing all the agency’s projects ensuring that projects are delivered faster, cost effective and within budget. She was in the team that saw to the successful completion of the much talked about Controller Pilot Data Link (CPDLC) in record time. She is presently a Chief Air Traffic Safety Systems Officer at the agency.

 In 2005 she attended Aviation Training Academy in Johannesburg South Africa where she obtained certificate in Data Communications with Distinction. In 2010 she went back to Aviation Training Academy in Johannesburg South Africa where she obtained a Certificate in Networking with yet another Distinction.

She holds the Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel License and Rating (ATSEP) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA. She has attended several trainings: VSAT training at NDSATCOM in Germany in 2009, Safe Tower Training in Vienna Austria in 2006, Total VHF Coverage training at Northrop and Grumman Peterborough United Kingdom in 2010.She also attended several workshops and seminars across the continents.

 

Engr.  Agubata is a committed professional as attested by her industry and passion for hands-on approach to problem solving. Principals and peers readily acknowledge her can-do spirit and team ethics. Her exceptional skills and work ethics have earned her three letters of commendation from two different Managing Directors of the Agency. She is a recipient of two Aviation Scholarships in 2007(Women in Aviation Scholarship by Pratt and Whitney) and 2010 International Civil Aviation Scholarship (ICAO) being the first by an African. She was privileged to work as an intern at ICAO Headquarters in Montreal Canada in 2010.She is also a recipient of the 2010 Emerging Leader Award of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria as well as the 2012 League of Airport and Aviation Correspondent (LAAC) Special Woman Trial Blazer Award.  

She was a past Director IFATSEA (International Federation of Air Traffic Electronics association) African Region and also the past Chairman Lagos Chapter, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) and member Board of Trustee, Women in Aviation Nigerian Chapter.

She is married to Mr. Kordy Agubata and they are blessed with children.
